clamp wood glue how long
On a panel glue up from edge joined boards i always remove the cross clamps after about 45 min so i can get to that viscous drying squeeze out with my “glue chisel” and a card scraper. sometimes i can work around the clamps so they stay on longer.. A carefully machined, square glue-up should only require a thin bead of glue (left below) and enough clamping pressure to produce a small amount of squeeze-out, like that shown (right below). an aftermarket glue bottle, like the one shown above (glu-bot, #62979, 800-279-4441, rockler.com) provides more control over glue flow.. Wood glue as you know is very strong but it can take a long time to set up. we often need to use clamps to hold the pieces together while the glue dries. if we don't have clamps or the shape isn't possible to be clamped this tip should hopefully help..
