Do great danes shed too much? great danes have a single coat and shed an average amount of fur all year round. in comparison to other breeds with the same type of coat, the volume of hair loss appears higher due to their large size. heavy shedding is more noticeable during the spring.. As i’ve already mentioned, great danes do shed. in fact, all dogs shed – with the exception of hairless dog breeds.it’s the natural process for dogs to get rid of old or damaged hair, though some dogs shed more than others.. there are two types of dog coats – single coats and double coats.. The great dane will shed most of the year although you can expect them to shed more in the spring. one thing is sure about any dog, and that is that you cannot stop the shedding cycle. it is not preventable and is a normal process for dogs..
